: Is your home dog friendly?
|
As you may have noticed, dogs do a lot of their ‘investigating’ with their mouths. In fact your dog can tell a lot about its environment by using this technique so it is important that you do a safety check of your house before bringing your new-found friend home.

Start by checking each room for any potential dangers such as:
- Electric cords that may be chewed or grabbed
- Knives, scissors, pins or other sharp objects
- Cleaning rags or sponges
- Small objects that could be swallowed
- Laundry detergents or bleach
Certain houseplants may also be dangerous: lilies, philodendrons, poinsettias and dieffenbachia can be poisonous to dogs so make sure you keep them out of reach.
